Funding for taught postgrad outside of Ireland

    Hi everyone,

I'm in my final year of an undergrad and will be applying for postgraduate courses soon. I'm Irish and I want to do a taught masters in the UK and I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on grants, awards, etc. that are available. I have looked through websites and stuff and funding for taught masters seems to be pretty much non-existent  but to be fair I've been finding it hard to deal with the information on the sites, everything is so convoluted.

Any help will be appreciated. Cheers in advance :)

The countycouncil/VEC grant will not cover tuition fees, though you may be entitled to a maintenance grant. Afaik the UK governmnet wont sponsor or give you scholarships as a foreign student, but you may be entitled to apply for a student loan (the sort of low interst, pay later thing). Im not sure can you blag fees off any other agencies.

Yeah I did an MA in Wales and couldn't get any funding from Ireland, not even the maintenance grant. As far as I know you're pretty much on your own as far as funding goes. I'm still paying back the credit union!

The Irish fees/maintenance grant system covers the 32 counties only for postgrad. Outside of that you're on your own as UK students are. There may be funding from research bodies and councils etc. but there is no centralised system at postgrad level akin to ours in the UK.

There's a few threads on this in NI/GB Colleges if you take a peek.
