I applied in July and have yet to hear back. When you will hear back entirely depends on what office you applied to, how many applications they recieved etc.

they let you stay on the live register until your application is processed.

I was wondering about this, are you sure it's okay to keep collecting jsa until you're approved/denied? (I heard horrible rumors about people being rejected for btea and then having to pay back any money they received before the decision was made. I'm really hoping it's not true because I applied in July and haven't heard from them yet).

the btea office in galway told me to keep signing on and collecting my dole until my application was processed.

if you are refused btea you will obviously have to repay any money you collected from start of college on.

you will not be refused btea once you have the required amount of days and have never been to third level before. look at the terms and conditions on the welfare website

In my case they suspended my dole until the BTEA has been approved.
I submitted my application with my college start date as 8sept and they stopped paying me from the 8sept , I'm told they will back date my money but it's a struggle getting buy on borrowed cash until then :(
