I've ordered the iPhone 4 and should get it in the next 3 weeks from Apple. I currently have the 3G. I'm considering putting my 3G backup onto the iPhone4 due to having game saves I want to keep and text msgs etc. I read that it's better to set a new phone up as a "new phone" rather than restore from backup. If I was to set it up as a new phone is there any way to keep my game saves and texts?

The only way to get those across is to Restore from Backup.

Thanks Aidan, I thought that was the case. Crap :( I'll restore from backup and see how the speed is.

i set up my 4 from a back up of my 3Gs and touch wood, so far no probs.
battery has been super, i lose approx 4% over night where ive heard of people losing 10% etc

do it from the back up and if it causes trouble then restore and set up as new phone then just sync everything again.

My 3G is sluggish sometimes and maybe due to corrupt data, hopefully it's not the data and the iPhone 4 will run smoothly.

Cheers! I've ranked up a lot of levels on some games over the last year and half and I'd hate for all that to be a waste of time
