Bike vs X-trainer

I genreally do about 20 mins on both when go to the gym.

X-trainer is warm up and bike is HIIT
Now a question on calories burnt, I know the machines will always overstate them and aren't that accurate but why is the bike much lower? I usually get around 350 cal in 20 mins on x-trainer without feeling tired or sore

20 mins HIIT on the bike and I can barely keep going and my legs are screaming at me yet only get between 200-250.

Do you really not use as much energy just because the bike is more efficient movement wise? I mean how can I be so much tireder using so much less energy?

Those things are only guesses. and in general, a bike will give a lower number because you are not supporting your body weight.
