    Hi All.

The revenue had my rent for the year at €1270 which gave me a tax credit for rent relief of 254 for 2007. I updated my figures on the paye syetem as my actual rent paid was €3600. I have just got my p21 and it says im due a rebate of €466. Which means the revenue have given me a tax credit of €3600*.20 - 254=466. They have give me a tax credit of 720 for 2007, i taught the max was €360 for 2007 have the revenue made a mistake. On my p21 it says Rent tax credit 720. The same has happened for 2008 & 2009.

Which is right and how do I tell the revenue they made a mistake.

Are you married? The relief for a married couple is twice that for a single person.

Does anyone know how the tax relief system works if the apartment is being shared. Do we all get tax relief or is it just for 1 person?

If I'm writing to a client there's no way I would tell him anything other than he must tell Revenue they have given him too much credit.

Everyone paying rent in the apartment is entitled to the tax credit

    Hi

Just to update I rang the revenue and told them that they made a mistake and they sent out a new p21 saying that there was an under payment of a couple of hundred for each of the three years which is fine by me. On the bottom of the p21 they say This underpayment will not be collected at this time. What does that mean? do I pay it back or have they written it off.

    Cheers
