Spring Clip to RCA

I have an AV receiver for a good while now (Sony STR-DH510) and home cinema speakers from an LG Home Cinema DVD package (simular to this) and i have the 5 speakers hooked up fine through the speaker cable (spring clip) connections. THing is, the sub has the same connection and the back of the av receiver has and RCA connection for the sub. From what i've been reading i think there is no way that i can use the current sub with the av receiver, and i will have to buy and active sub at some stage.

Am i right or wrong is my question, cuz i don't want to have to spend money if necessary (ie: something to change from spring clip to rca...).

    Thanks for any input.

What other connections are there on the sub?

None, it's a typical sub with the black and red wire coming from inside and the end of the wire has 2 silver solders over the exposed wire.

You need an amp for the subwoofer, or as you say, buy a new active one.

I was thinking as much. Ah well, will have to do without for another while so. Cheers!
