I've got it, unless ya like sport I don't see any point in having it.

I have it and I despise sport:)But the only reason I have it is because I cannot get UPC and Chorus is rubbish where I live. The HD is good but overall sky is an over priced ripp off ,even without HD!

I had it and felt it was costing a fortune. I only watch sport so I cancelled Sky and instead got pay tv from Poland and the middle east. I am saving a fortune as a result of this move and I have access to a lot more sport compared to what Sky offer.

Isn't Chorus a part of UPC?

Like I said, I just don't see any reason for having it other than sport, I can watch just about any show quicker than Sky show it and at a similar quality.

I'd get freesat with pvr if you don't like the sport!

If you have sky and you simply want sky plus, you could always just buy used sky+ box of internet, get a local sky man to change the lnb on the dish & run additional cable & then you are set & are not tied to any additional contract with sky or any additional fees.

the Sky+ box recording will not work without a sky sub

Yes, but many Chorus customers are MMDS customers not Cable customers so there are some variations. Not sure if PVR has launched on UPC MMDS yet????

I find UPC's PVR handy but I just cut down on the package I had with them, too many plus 1 channels which are really not necessary when you have PVR.

Yes but my point was that you re not automatically contractd to an additional year by going this route and there is no additional fee for sky+.
It is true that should you stop subscription, you would lose sky+ function

What's a VCR?;) Get a freesat pvr or (this bit is dodgy) sign up as a new customer under a different name and get a Sky+ box installed for 30 quid and stick to a basic package.

you are contracted to sky for a year even if you use your own sky box and dish

yes freesat would be best if you dont watch sport

If you have a Sky box and there is no install you may get 3, 6 or 12 month minimum contract.

If you have been a customer you may get the contract reactivated. Then you have it a minimum of month but have to give one month notice = two months. I've done re-activation 3 times. Once it was a minimum of 3 months as they supplied a replacement refurbished box (no install).

Correct. They will only get you into a minimum contract if you take up the HD package.

I have UPC on MMDS for the past month. 2 pvrs and absolutely no problems.

UPC PVRs only on ex-NTL MMDS. Not on ex-Chorus MMDS.

Have sky+ and find it great for recording on go. But just had approach from sky installer to install extra box at one off fee. Which will give 250 fta channels. Anyone else heard of this? Positive or negative feedback welcome- thanks

It's a freesat or fta box he wants to install. Is it to be located in another room?
I have Sky in the main room and use sky boxes without cards for fta viewing in other rooms, installed them myself.
