Well you can download sat nav software for them so yes it can but I'm not sure if that specific software is available.

I'm not sure about the iphone but on my HTC desire the GPS generally has an error margin of 10M or more, which wouldn't be nearly good enough.

If you could figure out the spacing yourself you could try using a digital compass to make the runs parallel, couldn't be any worse than doing it by eye.

No consumer grade GPS will be accurate enough.
Even normal Sat Navs such as TOM TOM's Or Garmins would not have this level of accurecy (obviously wouldn't have the right software either).

Was reading bout this, There is a new guidance system similar to rtk, +/- 2cm that's ment to be almost as accuerate as the radio types. No neeed for a base station either, works over phone signal. Think trimble do it?

There is some app's that can be downloaded for gps with an iphone. Its accurate to around 2m. You can install some software on PDA's to give you guidance. Have a look at farmworks.ie. They sell some set ups for 300. What will you need it for?
