Don't know how people can hate him!

Last night I watched a debate between him and American political analyst Bill O'Reilly. The first question Moore asked stumped Bill and over the course of the debate he was caught out 3 times contrading his statements.

Hes not one of those people desperate to get on TV to scream his opinon at people.

I personaly cannot see anything annoying about him or his views.

Sure hes half Irish. He should at least be half loved :D

he's a dishonest, manipulative fat sack of ****

no major problems with him really

Used to be a big fan... his original movies were good. Lately he has gotten kind of annoying on his website.

    http://michaelmoore.com/

His movie 'Capitalism: A Love Story' wasn't all that good.

And Bill O'Reilly is a dope.

Neither love nor hate him. Hes just very entertaining and sometimes informative and I sometimes agree with him. As I get older I agree with him more and more though.

His movies are crap, I love watching The History Channel, National Geographic, Discovery etc. But I can't stand his movies, such garbage.

His films are entertaining, but he does play fast and loose with the facts sometimes.

I have no idea who this man is.

i like him, i liked capitalism love story too, some interesting moments such as the guy from the bank telling then president ronald reagan to hurry up his speech

i have to laugh though at some americans calling him anti-patriotic

Bill O'Reilly ....even the name annoys the hell out of me.
Moore is grand, a bit biased even if I agree with a lot of what he writes or makes movies about, but at least somone is fighting the good fight.

    Wasn't that Morgan Spurlock?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The people/power structures that he is against manipulate the truth to promote their agenda. He just replies in kind. He isn't trying particularily hard to fool people and anyone with half a brain could see that his movies are meant to break down as about 50% Entertainment, 25% Guff and 25% Message.

I'm glad he's around to give a voice to people in America who would otherwise be forgotten and to highlight that there is an ugly side to the so-called "American Dream" that most people have to endure rather than enjoy..

I enjoyed Bowling for Columbine, but I havent seen any of his recent stuff, he is very economical with the truth but so are his opponents, I suppose he's an entertainer rather than anything serious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 869 ✭✭✭Osgoodisgood

He's way too loose with the facts. Some of the timeline "errors" in Bowling for Columbine gave the uber right wing nutsos the opportunity to decry the entire film. Which was a shame because the concept was brilliant.
He's also just way too whiny for my liking.

Now Bill O'Reilly on the other hand has no redeeming qualities. The most objectionable blowhard on tv. You wouldn't tire of kicking the bloated fu*ktard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,675 ✭✭✭ronnie3585

He's a crazy leftie beard stroker.

Capitalism: A love story was the most pathetic piece of drivel I've ever seen. Saying he's economical with the truth is an understatement.

i love bill o'reilly, i think he is hilarious. no more than kevin myers i think people shouldn't read too much into what he says :D

Yeah, the footage of Charlton Heston holding the rifle over his head at the NRA conference was footage from a conference before the Columbine shootings. The very cynical editing implied that it was from the conference directly after.

The footage of George W. Bush in Fahrenheit 911 talking about the "haves and the have mores" was from an event where the leaders of the political parties are supposed to take the piss out of their own parties. But of course, it's dressed up to look like a gathering of some cabal of illuminati or some such crap.

That's just two examples I can think of, off the top of my head. His films are riddled with lots of misleading things like that. In fact, I wouldn't even say that he's loose with the facts - it's pretty much outright lying. He does it so much that it's hard to trust anything that he says.

i like how he writes books and makes documentaries that leave you with more questions than what he answered, presenting bias half truths perhaps?

I take him as serious as I would any American politician to be honest.
To his credit, he does write some very funny books.

He goes against the grain which is a breath of fresh air in many ways.

His films are pretty one sided though but are a decent watch. Not everyones cup of tea of course.

Not liking him for being from America, having a beard or being overweight is a bit ridiculous !

Maybe if he was skinny, clean shaven and Irish he'd be a genius !

I think he's not realistic and way too idealistic. Then again I'd probably vote republican if I had a vote in the US.

I like this quote from Churchill:

“If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain.”

I don't even think he is a socialist, I don't think he has much of a coherent political viewpoint. Everything he does has some truth in it, but he rarely hesitates to lie or mislead.

I've seen 2 or 3 of his movies & thought they were really good!

Bill O'Reilly on the other hand is a self righteous jackass!

Meh, his films are entertaining I s'pose, and sometimes informative, and he does like to rile people up which is good, but I don't particularly like having to check the facts on documentaries after I've watched them. He's a demagogue more than a serious political analyst.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,494 ✭✭✭Columbia

I like him for the same reasons I like Richard Dawkins. I broadly agree with their stances, and their methods, although sometimes overbearing, force the opposition to face questions they otherwise might not.

His arguements are a bit simplistic and he shouldn't be considered a documentary maker (more polemicist). He says exactly where his allegainces lie unlike the indepndents on Fair and Balanced Fox.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

I dislike him for many reasons but the main one would be that some people take what he says as gospel. I always knew he was full of shít before I'd ever read about how he "stretches the truth" in his films.

That plus he puts himself on the cover of his books. I love to judge a book by its cover so I'm never gonna buy one with a fat sack of shít on the front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,482 ✭✭✭✭Ush1

As others have said, he's liberal with the facts and quick to be disingenious with editing.

That said, I took a girl to Fareinheit 9/11 when it came out in the cinema. We walked out part of the way through as it was so boring but I ended up shagging her that night so he's alright in my book.:)

Bill O Reilly is an absolute scumbag...theres a whole host of them on Fox news..the single most biased news channel i have ever seen...As much as Michael Moore stretches the truth...he's a breath of fresh air and an insight for the southern brainwashed population who Fox news target....
