    quick question,

is there any benefit to naming your wife on your own policy if she already has her own policy which allows her to drive other cars?

yes, naming my GF on my policy reduces the premium by nearly 10%

When I was renewing with Axa, putting the g/f on knocked a few bob off the premium, so I imagine it's worth asking the question of your own insurer.

zurich appears to add 30, despite her having over 5 years no claims and over 10 years with a full driving license???

    1. Does her policy also allow her to drive your car?
    2. Most likely while driving other cars, she has only 3rd party cover, so in case of something, you won't get a single cent for damage to your car.

No but in a lot of cases just having a female driver on the policy will reduce the cost of the premium. Go figure...

That's what I was saying about - that's it worth anyway to get her as a named driver.

For me it was almost 20% cheaper to get my wife as a named driver.

most of the time your wife would only have third party cover when driving other cars. this would mean if she crashes yours that no one will pay for the damage. check out the policy t&c and pick the best option based on that too.

Bear in mind also that if you do insure her on your policy and she has an accident while driving your car and is also insured on her own car the insurance companies (assuming they are both different) will split the claim between them and it will affect both of your policies. It's called Dual Indemnity happened to me last year when I had an accident in my wife's car they claimed half off my insurance.
