    Hey guys,

I'm a gay 24 year old and have been seeing a guy for awhile who I thought I really liked. Things were going well and we got to see each other irregularly but we enjoyed our time together. He kept talking about me in terms of nearly a serious relationship. He's four years older than me and only recently came out. I'm not sure how much he understands how relationships developed and the things he was saying were pretty serious (like after a month saying we should go to NYC together...). I thought that was pretty weird.. He also showed up at my work with flowers (cliche!!) but it was definitely appreciated as my dog had died that day.

Anyway, this was all after a month and a half. After that he was going on a research trip to France and he had mentioned this to me before. A few days before the trip he began to get quiet and then I didn't hear from him at all from a few days before he left until now. I now haven't heard him for over a week and know that he's back in Ireland. He's been back since Tuesday. I get the real impression he's not that interested even if he was so dramatic about it at the start. I do genuinely really like the guy, but I don't want to come across as crazy by texting him and being all 'where were you!? and why haven't you called!?' but then again I'd be fine if he just explained he liked someone else or just wasn't ready for a relationship... Bah! I hate this game...

What do you guys think? Should I text him and ask him how he is or should I just not bothered? My friends have been very confused by him since we started seeing each other. He can text me all day and then I won't hear from him... And when we finally make a date to spend the day together he cancles at the last minute because something came up (like a friend who is leaving the country needs to see him etc.)... I dunno. I hate relationships... I just want someone who is into me.. if that makes sense.

    Pre-thanks!
    x

I would definitely text or ring him. You deserve an explanation. He was the one who was in favour of the relationship in the beginning so if something changed you have a right to know.
    Good luck with it.

Thanks for that, yeah you're right, I do deserve to know one way or the other. Maybe I'm too needy? I always find it difficult to figure out what's 'right' to do in these instances, and to be honest I'm becoming less and less interested in them. I'll fill ye in IF i get a reply (doubt I will, tbh)

Why not just call or text with - hope trip went well, looking forward to hearing all about it....

Leaves the ball firmly in his court...
This way there is no accusation - no mixed messages - no "why haven't you called"... Who knows maybe he scared himself in being too forward. But would not leave it too much longer.

Just call him and start talking :)
Texting is not ideal - but if you don't get an answer have a message similar to above ready to leave.
