Beware of Quickpark travelling times

One to watch if you're using the quickpark car park at Dublin Airport.

Their website claims that busses are every 5 minutes and take 5 minutes to get to airport.

The reality is, certainly at 5.30 in the morning (peak time for airport) busses are every 10 minutes and take 15 minutes to get to airport. (entered at 5.19, arrived at airport at 5.46)

The reason it takes so long is the carpark attendants continue to send cars down a full parking lane. These people then end up parking 200yards away from the primary bus stop and then the bus has to stop another 3 times to allow for these people to get on.

Meant my missing a flight yesterday by less than one minute (didn't know it was min 45 mins even without baggage:eek:) - didn't care as I really didn't want to attend the meeting planned:p and I should have left earlier and the flight was a real cheapie.

You don't say what time your flight was. For the record most of the time I've used Quickpark it's been fine bar once where we got a lady driver with some kind of mental issues who kept stopping.

If you left it too late, which by the sounds of things might be the case, it might be a little unfair to heap blame onto them. It's a busy time of the morning at the airport so you should give yourself those extra minutes IMHO.

30 minutes from entering car part to arriving at airport is not bad at all. As you say, 5:30 is a very busy time at the airport. In my experience traffic is heavy in the area and no doubt there are lots of delays with the current work on T2.

Perhaps you should have factored all of that in and not just put your faith in Quickpark.

FWIW, I find DAA Long term to be just as bad in terms of time taken from arrival at carpark to actually reaching the terminal.

Jeez- read the post. I'm not blaming them or the driver. Not blaming aer lingus for the strict 45min gate closing. (I think the guy at the desk was surprised when I just said "ah well no worries") (flight 6.30am)

I did leave it tight (I'm not good at waking up at 4.15am!:D) and I wasn't pushed for doing the trip.

Its just their website says "buses every 5 minutes with 5 minute joiurney time", so if you did take this as their timing and then found that it was wrong by 15 minutes, and you missed a more important flight than mine by one minute, you'd be pissed off.

If the statement even had a disclaimer, it would be better. All I'm saying is the info on the site is misleading and to beware of the real time it takes.

Arriving at the car park an hour before a flight is asking for trouble tbh, especially knowing what the airport is like that hour of the morning. With an online checkin, maybe, but checking bags? Silly.

Next time get up 1min earlier :D

Actually, Aer Lingus are not always that strict. I remember once my parents had the brilliant idea of returning their rental car at the airport. On a Friday afternoon. That meant being stuck in traffic for like two hours. We finally made it to the airport about 25 minutes before departure, with luggage. We were sure we would be turned back - but no, the check-in desk staff let it slip. Not even a word about us being late.

Yep, aer lingus are far better than ryanair at working the system.

I forgot my passport once for an early morning flight - the aer lingus staff checked me as the check in was about to close - partner was driving down to the airport with the passport and they held onto the boarding pass until he arrived.
Ryanair wouldn't have been so lenient.

    Hi All,
I have recently fallen foul of the Aerlingus Quickpark Trap and had to double pay for parking. There is no email from Aerlingus in relation to quickpark and I dare anybody find details of prepaid parking on their website(I may be wrong but i couldnt find it, I also didnt know it was quickpark). However Aerlingus informed me that the Quickpark details are informed in their terms an conditions that you accept when you book your flight. The customer is also advised to read the terms and conditions. This is a very mean act being perpertrated on unsuspecting Aerlingus passengers. Nice one aerlingus. They didn't even offer me free parking the next time I travelled.

    Kind Regards
    Raymo.
