Is there any set law to enforce a better standard of pay for people who work nights. Currently i get 6uro more per shift, which sucks balls.

I am also wondering is it legal that i get no break while working on the night shift?? This also sucks balls :(

I don't know about your pay JJayoo, but your rights to have a break is legally enforcable! You should speak to Citizens Information, they give very clear unbiased advice.

Its hard to say without knowing what industry you work in. A lot of industries are covered by local agreements and Employment Regulation Orders.

Your remark about breaks and rest times could also be better answered if we knew what line of work you did and if by night shift you mean over night or just quite late - like 8pm till 3am or something.

Oh! I'll just mention that you would be entiltled to a breck after working at least 4hrs, so long as you do more than 4hrs ( if you get me?

    Thanks for the replys.

Its security/information type of job, its not too busy at night time and we have a kettle so i can make a cuppa. However there is no canteen or fridge so it can be tricky trying to eat. Also can't really sneak away to the 24hour shop as there are people coming regularly for info.

    The shift is from 23-7.

    Security as in static guarding?

Im working shift in the airport and don't get an extra penney for it. It seems unfair but right now a job is a job.
