I am considering in applying for a graduate position at Sclumberger as a Field Engineer.

Is there anybody here on Boards who is working or has worked for this company? I would like to find out what it is like working for this company.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I dont work for Schlumberger however i have worked with lots of their guys on my rig. They all say that Schlumberger are a great company to work for and you get trained and treated very well.
However you will spend lots of time in the field and office in the first few years with the company. If your young and free i'd go for it! You will gain huge experience and will have a great choice of international jobs in a few years. Plus, its not like you have much of a choice in Ireland at the moment ;)

Would like to hear how your application goes, best of luck!

A friend of mine worked for them in Colombia as a geologist. She thought they were great. Another guy I know interviewed with them recently for a senior engineer job and walked away after first interview. He felt that he'd spend all his time in meetings and presentations and not really be doing interesting work.

Thanks guys for the replies:). I understand the hours can be long, hard and antisocial on a rig. I really like the idea where the company provides the opportunity to travel and work in different locations around the world.

I've decided to make a job application to Schlumberger.
