    Hi guys,

I've 8 weeks left on my Meteor Contract. Dying to get an Iphone 4. I know I should probably be patient and see out the remaining weeks but if I just paid off my final 2 months rental and ended the contract, where should I go for iPhone 4? I like the price plans 3 offer, but apparently there are serious issues with the 3 network and the iphone 4...any truth in that? So O2, Vodafone, 3 or one of them via Carphone Warehouse perhaps?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. finish out your contract
    2. swap to a bill pay smart lite plan (30 day contract)
    3. sell your Hero (still a good market for them IIRC)
    4. buy an unlocked iPhone from apple.ie or adverts.ie

    thats what i'd do.

I am with three form launch day and not a single problem so far.
All depends where you live, check the 3 coverage in your area, buy the 3pay sim and check it out.

One thing before moving to three if you decide, three won't unlock your handset before the contract expires which is not a big deal if you don't travel much.

No reports of any problems on 3 for a while. There's plenty of threads to give you a good idea of what to go for. As for me; I left VF and moved to 3. Haven't had any problems what so ever.

Thanks so much for all the advice. I'm in Dublin 90% of the time and if 3 is reliable in Dublin I'd be happy to go with them and get a subsidised iPhone. Good idea? Is it a massive deal down the road to unlock it if required?

One more point (just dawned on me!). I'm going to be in London this weekend with work. Is it possible to buy an iPhone 4 there at a better deal than here? (locked/unlocked)

    Thanks again

after conversion rates i think the UK store will work out slightly more expensive than the IRL store.

its not a question of cheaper/expensive when in uk. id wonder if they have any in stock in the apple store. if they do, then it means you get your hands on one immediately. if they dont, then you might as well get it here online on apple.ie as itll take 3 weeks.

Im with 3 for nearly 3 weeks, few teething problems but all good now, no complaints and they have the best tariffs and phone prices out there.

3 it is then, not sure which package though! 40 euro per month Vs. 60 euro per month. The higher tariff obviously gives me more "units" plus I get the phone for €109 (100 euro cheaper than it costs on the other tariff). My current Meteor bills are around 60-65 euro a month so should I just go with the 60 a month plan? Final thoughts? Thanks

    I say go with 40.
    350 minutes.
333 webtext (sent using jelly sms or eiretxt)
    free landlines (Extra free add-on)
    free 3 to 3 calls.
    2gb data.

So that leaves you with 350 minutes to meteor, o2 and vodafone. if you think that's not enough then go with higher plan.

OP, I hope you don't mind me asking, what are your reasons for leaving Android and moving to iPhone?

I only ask because I've had discussions over on the Android and N900 boards about why I think iPhone is a better platform. I felt Android was a bit sluggish on the Legend, lacked decent apps and a consistent UI.

As kceire sad, get an iPhone unlocked and finish out your contract with that phone. Meteor's plans are pretty solid for iPhone myself and the OH are both on the Billpay Lite 10 w/ internet add on and she's on Smart 30.
