Lifting dumbbells.

    Lifting dumbbells.

Is it more important to have proper form or to get the thing lifted?

Reason I ask, is a few guys down at the gym seam to almost use their bodies in order to get the dumbbell lifted in various types of lift. At first I though they were just doing the ‘look how much I can lift’ sh*te but then looking at the size of their arms and how much they train, one would have though they know what they are doing.

I know proper for for squats and alike, but wanted to get some opinions on dumbbells.

Form is more important. the people who use momentum to move dumbbells dont make gains

You`ve probably seen it with lads and bicep curls they`ll be using 20 kilo dumbells and basically use a body whip to curl it..they wonder why there biceps aren`t really growing

You actually need a bit of both...it's a matter of knowing when you need more of one and or the other.

Sometimes you need to concentrate on your form and other times you need to go balls out.

In real life, a bit of english is important.

On the internet it's worse than an a child rapist aids riddled suicide bomber.

IMO its more impotant to build form first and sort out any disfunction before you just grip it and rip it.

Really depends on the lift, situation, etc, what were they doing and how where they doing it?

Some might do it to get a few more reps out, like negative reps, if they are throwing them up and doing a slow controlled eccentric/negative dropping of the weight then this is probably what they are at.

When doing military presses you might see lads doing push presses towards the end for the same reason.
