Foxtrot 58

I was up at that dude Michael's funeral on the way to Predator's August bank holiday weekend, and his guys from Foxtrot 58 invited us to the site to hang around a bit. We didn't get to play it, but they gave us the tour and I figured I'd post the photos here.

The site is extremely compact - intentionally so so that the limited range of airsoft guns doesn't come into play much, as I guess it'd tend to break the immersion a bit. This gives it a bit of a toy-town feel but also a lot of tactical options very close together. There's two main areas - the village, which is extremely well-developed (washing on lines, furnished houses, fake flowers in window boxes) and some small fields with a wet ditch, bridges, bunkers and objective items.

They say they're strictly milsim, although interestingly their definition is different to what we're used to down here - to them it's about attitude, tactics and scenario, and they happily use unlimited ammo and infinite instant respawns. There's a strong ex-squaddie influence and they seem to know what they're about.

It's run as a club and all the development is paid for either by the club or out of peoples' pockets. The work is done by the members and bits to put in the village collected by members too whenever they find something cool.

What these photos don't show is the amazing safe zone clubhouse, which you'd be perfectly happy to spend a day in if there were no games on.

A view down the main street of the village, Killymurphy.

The petrol station. The pumps have real pump dial faces, and the car lives there.

    The post office.

Inside the post office. The field telephone is connected via the telephone wires running from pole to pole to two other similar telephones in buildings on the site.

The site is partially old farmyard, so there's some pre-existing construction that's been modified and incorporated.

    The church.

Inside the pub. The bottles are glued down so you don't wreck the place when hopping over the counter. Behind the counter there's a ladder to an upstairs area.

This is a view from the top of the pub (I think). Note the telegraph poles, carrying real actual telephone signals.

The military base at the edge of the village.

One of the bunkers at the edge of the ditch.

Although the field looks very open, I'm assured that it's possible to sneak through the grass by keeping low.
    DSCF0097.jpg

The main bridge across the ditch. The dynamite bundle on the side is actually made of wood and is an open-topped box - the intention is that you drop a pyrotechnic grenade into it to make it go bang.

    Rockets and a small bunker.

The site's a bit out of the way for us down here, but I'd love to try one of their event games, which I think they run once a month.

This is a link to their website.

Great bunch of lads running this site. Big Sam and the boys played in the last Take Aim cup, all well presented in their red berets.
Think their might be a 5 man comp coming up in November here.
Its changed somewhat since our last visit. looks good.
