Metallica cover band multi to mix

I recorded these guys a few months ago and did a fresh mix yesterday.
They did a super job playing this track.
Track is "The Day That Never Comes" from "Death Magnetic"
Download both zips and unzip EACH of them.
Pay attention to the read me file which gives info about guitar tracks etc.
Drum overheads are drummers POV ie. OHL is Hats side. DI tracks for all guitars if you want to re-amp.
Mic tracks are 2 Triple Rectifiers and 2 Peavey 6505s miced with 57 and 421

Your mix isn't clipping badly, sounds wrong to me!!

that mix is spot on mick!

especially the drums. definitly have a metallica sound :cool:

Ha Ha.
You mean too loud.
We used pretty much exactly the Metallica gear to track it.
Tama Starclassic maple, Zildjian Z Customs, Fernandes bass, ESP guitars, Mesa recto.

kick and snare really did it for me. definitly spot on.

On first listen hats are a touch harsh & raspy
doing an a/b comparison with 'for whom the bell tolls' for 10mins and now i can't really tell the difference. I'm splitting hairs. Maybe they're just .5db forward in the mix.
What eq have you done to the hats?

Forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn here, but why would "For Whom The Bell Tolls" be a relevant bench-mark?
"Ride The Lightning" is worlds apart in terms of sound and production from "Death Magnetic". I'd agree that musically it's the closest thing Metallica have done in years to that style but it doesn't actually sound anything like it.

Anybody having any bother downloading the second megaupload link?

Something is causing network dropouts when I try to download this but its only ever that megaupload link.

EDIT:
It works with this Jdownloader thing I was linked to over in computers and tech. That works fine but the link caused problems each time for me.
