    These guys are seriously cheap:

    <snip>
    I'm booked in to start implant treatment with them this Friday. Anyone had any experience with them?

    Nope but thanks for the link, I know someone who is looking to get a couple of implants.

    Likelihood is that you will be flying to Bulgaria or Hungary to have these placed. Buyer beware, you get what you pay for in a lot of cases in dentistry.

    You cannot have something that is cheap, good and fast. Pick two of the three at most.

    The implant used is a non standard one, with a non standard connection. If you need components in a few years you might be out of luck. I have never heards of this system before they appear to be some Isreali clone system. This is a permanent fixture in your body (hopefully) I would want a system with a long proven trackrecord over 15-30 years. A company that has been around for a while and will be around in the future.

    You only get one chance it get it done properly espically with dental implants, so a bargain is only a bargain if its a good job, good jobs take time and training, time and training cost money.

    caveat emptor

    I don't know if I'm posting this in the correct place, or if it should be a new thread. My son had an accident when he was 11 and lost two front teeth, roots and some bone. He's 17 now and has had lots of orthodontic work and wears a retainer with teeth attached. In time I would like him to have implants but this will involve a bone graft. He says he will never have this done as its too big a job and potentially too painful and we are looking at having bridge work done now. I think, when he is older and hopefully has a bit of sense, he will go for the implants therefore I wonder if there is some sort of bridge work which will not damage the adjoining teeth or if there is something better than the retainer which is delicate and has broken a few times in the year he has been wearing it.

    Also, I see that it has been asked in other posts but can anyone give me an idea of what they have paid for bridge work.

    The type of bridge you are talking about is a "maryland bridge", the replacement teeth have metal "wings" attached to them which are bonded to the backs of the adjacent teeth. They are indicated in some circumstances but the only time I use them is when a patient has a tooth extracted and is having an implant later when the bone has healed and does not want to wear a denture in the meantime. They almost always bebond if force is put on them and the longer the span (ie more than one replacement tooth) the more they flex and come off. Your son may get away with having granulated bone placed on the implant site rather than a bone graft from the jaw/hip/chin, seek expert advice about this. The problem with placing a conventional bridge is that his lateral incisors and probably his canines will have to be reduced/drilled to retain the bridge and remember this is permanent and his front teeth, so spend a bit of money getting a good one. The nightmare result would be to have his good teeth drilled and a cheap bridge with poor cosmetics placed on them. Fitzgeme i'm sure will pm you some good implant specialists in your area and remember prices are coming down here.
