i was just wondering what all would i need to do to convert my hatchback car into a van, anybody who has undergone this before have any advice?
Plan would be to remove rear seats, tint rear windows and possibly put in a floor if needed to by law etc. and then put through the DOE

also it is a 5 door car would the electric window motor need to be removed or anything else done to the doors? and what forms would be needed to be filled out.

any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you search for 'commercialising' you'll find more or less the info you need.

There's also been a bit of a clamp down on this lately (search for commercial tax).

    thanks for input,

does anybody know from experience what the procedure is about rear doors,do they have to be permanently closed up?

found this company today OGH Enterprises that undertake these coversions anyone have any exposure to them in the past?

If the car is currently registered in Ireland there is no point doing this as you won't get a rebate on the VRT already paid.

It will cost you money to convert a car which will end up devaluing.

Better to buy a UK reg car and convert it. then pay the nominal vrt rate.

Or sell the current and just buy a van.

The €50 vrt doesn't apply for car/vans though, only bigger commercials.
