    Hi

I'm a frequent rubbernecker on boards but rarely actually post, Howonever , , I was looking into building a headphone amp, this method seems to be the most adapted by the looks of my ten minute google search, haha. Anyways just wondering if anyone has any experience with using or building such an amp, any advice on the build or even on where best in dublin to buy the actual components themselves ( the resistors capacitors etc) would be greatly appreciated.

    Heres The Link

Never had the guts to put one together myself, but I know that you can get Altoids in Marks & Spencer (most important component!) albeit with a different name. Dark green tin.

As for the components, Maplin's would probably be your best bet.

Your best bet for quality components, cheaper than Maplin, is RS:

..except possibly for the OpAmp itself, as they don't seem to have a Burr-Brown one.

Ebay for mint tins - there are LOADS :)

Plan on building one myself soon too.

Cheers for the responses guys, , i know the ery mints in m&s well actually have a few tins around the house, , but im gonna go with a small Beatles yellow submarine stash tin i have , for cosmetic effect!, , haha , , just waiting on all my parts to arrive now, the bulk of my components i have sourced from peats.com (shop Irish save the world and all that jazz) , they don't require a minimum buy for capacitors and other things (resistors excluded, but they sell a pack of metal film Resistors that im certain include all the values one would need and more)! unlike radionics which have a minimum quantity buy of 5 on a few things , but there are a couple of things peats dont stock!, i stumbled onto pixmania.com and sourced the very same radioshack pc board and radioshack solder that is recommended in the tutorial at reasonable price too, , just have to pick up my potentiometer for the volume switch and the op amp itself, , i will probably get them from radioinics as they stock a recommended op amp the opa2132pahttp://radionics.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=2188281. All i gotta do now is get good at soldering and hope for the best!
