I am currently looking to buy a data projector for my classroom. I want to buy it myself so that only I may use it but to be honest I'm not all that familiar with projectors and what I should be looking for. Has anyone any idea what the best brands are, what quality, weight, resoution etc I should be looking for? I suppose Im willing to spend up to 500e but I'm not even sure if this is enough or too much money.

Any help/ideas would be really appreciated as I have lots of powerpoints to use with classes this year. Thanks.:)

I have an Epson model in my classroom. Its mounted on the ceiling. I don't know much about other makes/models but I can highly recommend the Epson as a model. Have had it for 3 years now and I couldn't live without it!

Most of the classrooms in our school have them mounted, the few portable ones seem to be a bit dodgy. I assume you will want a portable one if it is for your use only.

Brightness you require is based on how bright your room is/if it has blinds. The higher the Lumens, the brighter your room can be. 2000+ is normal. Also look out for one that comes with a free spare bulb as these can be as dear or dearer than the projector if/when they blow.

    Useful info here

    Maybe something like this?

I got a 300 Euro Acer projector for use at home.

No problems with it and you can't beat it for that price. The model I got is no longer on the website (www.pixmania.ie), but they do have a similarly priced one.

    Highly recommended.

    Hi there!
I am also interested in projectors and would appreciate if anyone would know where I could get a demonstration of a model before purchase. I'm not very techy so I would have to be shown how first. thanks!
