How to set these 2 up? it's the small silver Pace box........used to be able to do this with the Sky box..... I've tried all the permutations I can think of but the recorder will only pick up the basic "pipe" channels and not the full digital

Plug the scart from the UPC box into the DVD recorder and the DVD recorder into the tv.

If you are trying to use an inbuilt tuner in the DVD recorder to pick up the digital stations you cannot do this.

First part done, can get basic 18 channels

2nd part with Sky I could get all digital stations on 1 channel (was no19)...ie go on channel 19 and use Sky remote to flick through.....this can't be done with UPC??

If you have the UPC box connected in the same way as the Sky box then I dont see why the results would be any different (ie go to channel 19 or whatever it was with the Sky box and flick thru using the UPC remote control).

That's the plan.... problem is I don't remember how I had the Sky box connected never took notes :D....I'll just have to keep fiddling around with the leads, cheers anyway

If you're using a SCART input (as most people will be as all UPC and all but the earliest NTL boxes do not output RF), it is very likely that your DVD-R will not pick up the signal on a numbered channel. Rather it will be on a special channel for the SCART input which is normally "AV" or "EXT1" or the like. Look for a channel like this on your DVD-R. Your DVD-R remote might have an "AV" button for instance.

Yeah might be that...had upc RF lead into input on dvd player and output between dvd/tv....scart from upc to tv

    will check it out later

yep found all channels on scart, good stuff
