Adding MIDI to Firewire Mixer?

I've pretty much settled on getting a Mackie Onyx 1220i firewire mixer/interface. Pre-amps are grea, works with protools, multi track recording, great price, the works. Only thing it appears to be missing is midi.

Are there any interfaces I can get soley for midi that wouldn't interfere with the mixer?

Its the only thing stopping me right now...

    Cheers!

Any USB-Midi interface should'nt interfere with it since its using USB and not firewire.

    And there's plenty of them!

So say in Logic 8 or ProTools I'll be able to specify 2 interfaces to run at the same time yeah?

I've never used either mentioned but any sequencer worth its salt will allow you to run both a firewire mixer and a usb midi device simultaneously.

A midi controller keyboard is essentially a midi-usb device,

and people have used these along with firewire and usb interfaces simultaneously in sequncers for a long time now.

USB midi interfaces are fairly inexpensive anyway, so don't be too worried. ;)

All you'll need is something like these:
