Well my PC died over the weekend, I lost all my data including iTunes folder. I have about 4gb of music, All with album art (that I spent days updating manually) and all my apps.

Ive bought new drives for my PC and should have it up and running this week, but my question is, how can I restore my iTunes folder? Is there any way to reverse-engineer the data from the iPhone back onto a clean install of iTunes? Alot of the tracks came from external sources and CDs I own, and it would literally take me days to get it back to where it was.

Is there anything I can do?

Get sharpod, it allows you to copy music from your phone on to your pc. It won't copy album art unfortunately, but you can just select all your music and right click to 'get album at' and itunes should download most of it again.

If your tracks have the album art embedded into the ID3 tags of the MP3 files, you will get your album art back.

If you end up re-doing the album art for your music, in iTunes, right click on the tracks you are editing, select "Get Info" and paste the album art into the relevant section - this will embed it and it becomes permanently part of the MP3 file (as opposed to using iTunes to just automatically pull album art, which may update the art but does not embed it).

Ahh that makes sense. Id say about 1/3rd of them have embedded art, the rest I did download from iTunes (So most of them should work)

It really bugs me, that loads of them wont download the art now, because they will have updated their database and my albums will be out of date. Embedding is the way to go.

On a Mac, there are some user scripts for iTunes that can embed any art that iTunes automatically grabs, rather than you having to do the manual process I mentioned above. Not sure what you'd use on Windows, but I'm sure there are equivalent solutions out there.
