Hi i am looking at getting rid of my car and i came across the website "Cars4Cash" who basically buy your car in exchange for cash.Apparently they give you a cheque within the hour for your car if both parties agree on the price. Can anyone tell me if they have had any dealings with them? What i am worried about is how you can guarantee the cheque wont bounce once you go to cash it? Obviously my car would be gone at that stage. Please help.

    Listen to your inner cynic.

They'll give you 50% of what your car is worth. The only way of getting anything like what it's worth is to sell privately. You would have to be a little thick, lazy or on your knees financially to use vultures like these.

You're going to get an appalling price from them.

Get your car in order, put it up on donedeal at a competitive price, and you'll get much more.

If you're not in a rush, try adverts.ie and the usual sites first to see what people are willing to give for it. Then see if cars4cash can meet that.

You might as well contact them and see what they'll offer for your car. Let us know if you do!

A friend of mine got priced for his car at 10,000, went to these guys and they offered him 4500. As far as Im aware they want to make as much profit as they can off of you, which is fair enough they are in that business. Yet they prey on people who see them as an easy way to get a cheque with no hassles. But in reality what hassle is there in showing a few people your car and taking them for a test drive?

I had an 04 kia rio with 2 years nct, went to them and they offered me €750, I laughed at yer man.I Put in on CBG and donedeal at 11pm that day, got a call 10am the next day, car was gone at 2pm with €2500 cash in my hand.

If you do go to them, Expect to be insulted.

IMO these type of places are only good if you have a dressed up wreck your want to shift.

There's a load of different dealers offering cash for cars try them all , Also call into four or five opel dealers and get offers from them also, don't try the main dealers over the phone.

These places are the pawn shops of the motor trade imo, similar to all these places buying used gold jewellery from people.

They buy cars from the public and sell them on to the trade due to the shortage of decent used cars out there. Remember the trade value is already well below the retail value of the car so if they are selling them to the trade then they have to buy them at well below trade value to make money.

The first thing I would do is try and sell it privately or I would rather take my chances putting the car through an auction than let it go for next to nothing to the likes of these places.
