problem with 2001 Vectra sri 2.2 turbo diesel

    Morning Lads / Ladies

I bought a Vectra really cheap last night knowing it had a few "gremlins"

On driving all the power delivery from the turbo is there (it actually packs a nice punch for a 130bhp diesel)

Then all of a sudden power is gone, Get no warning lights on the dash. I know the turbo is 100% fine.

I would take the key out whilst driving and put it back in and this would cure it...sometimes...it's as if the power from the turbo is cut, I know it is a sensor or something electrical.

I would say this is a common sort of problem with these cars.

My question is, would anyone know what to check?

    Thanks

    Alan

The quickest / easiest / simplest / cheapest thing to check on these are the hoses which actuate the EGR and the manifold changeover valves. They are small rubber hoses which are operated on a feed from the brake vacuum pump, which actuate the above valves through a pair of soleoids mounted either on the rear bulkhead or the nearside inner wing. The hoses can perish with age and cause all sorts of erratic running faults. The only thing I will say is that these faults usually put the warning lights on....

If this draws a blank, it'll be time to get the car scanned for fault codes and have a peak at the live data.

Just an update guys..I have had the Vectra down to a local garage, They told me that they EGR valve was at fault on the car, I got that replaced and it is still very slugish.

The car drives fine for about 4 mins then looses all power...it is really starting to break my heart now at this stage :( EGR valve replaced and that was the only fault showing up (no lights ever come up on the dash)

Any ideas on what i should check now? Really want this car working properly & I need it back on the road asap

Any help at all would be great...
