Best Races and Craziest Faces: The 2010 Midterm Elections

Well September is here, and the midterms are two months away. Hopefully this can be a mega-thread for all things weird, wacky and wonderful going into the homestretch of this campaign season.

I think the most interesting campaign is the Florida Senate race, which has turned into a three-way contest between Marco Rubio, Charlie Crist and Kendrick Meek. Crist seemed like the kind of moderate Republican who could win statewide elections, draw bi-partisan support, and be shortlisted for higher office. Real Clear Politics shows Rubio with an edge (but not definitely), but Crist has almost double the campaign war chest, and it is early days yet.

Other interesting races (based on thelatest polling):
    • Boxer v. Fiorina for Senate (CA) - any campaign that could produce the awesomeness that is the Killer Sheep Ad is worth watching!
    • Reid vs. Angle for Senate (NV) - Mayor of Boringville vs. Mayor of Crazy Town
    • Giannoulias v. Kirk for Senate (IL) - this is Obama's old seat that the former governor tried to sell. A viable third candidate could probably run away with this one, had they jumped into the race
    • Sink vs. Scott for Governor (FL) - It will be interesting to see if a guy whose company engaged in massive Medicare fraud under his leadership can become the governor of a state with such a high percentage of Medicare-dependent retirees

What races are you most interested in?

Will Tea Party candidates be the best thing that ever happened to Democrats?

What will be this year's "October Surprise"?

Let the craziness begin!!! (or continue!)

Interested in Rand Paul. Will he get elected, I say yes. Will he turn into a typical GOP senator thereafter, I say yes!
