Hi bit of a long story ill try kepp it as short as posible.

Ive being having health trouble the last while and as I'm out of work and have no medical card i never went about it now it has gotten really bad went to the doctor last week and will be getting results this week.

The way i am now i can not work and might not be able to work for a few years. I live with my girlfriend and am getting only 40 euro from SW I pay that alone in matenes for my child from an other relationship.

She says she can not keep paying for me and my daughter as i have her 3 days a week and have to feed and cloth her i need a job but am unable to work so i at least need the 196 rather then 40 i was told i should be on the sick before if i go on am i still means tested as my girlfriend is living with me.

Yeah, you will still be means tests on Disability Allowance while living with your girlfriend too, and most likely recieve exactly the same amount.

It's a very tough situation to be in.

First things first, contact your daughter's mother, and explain the situation. Ask if you can reduce or suspend the payments for maintenance until the claim has been assessed, and you have been given a specific amount you will be getting. If this doesn't work, contact the District Court and get it sorted. If you are taking your daughter for 3 days a week, and want to reduce the payments, you might offer to take your daughter for more days, in lieu of payment. It might also help with the Dept of Social Protection claims (Below).

Next, contact the Dept Social Protection, and ask to speak to somebody in Illness Benefit. IF you qualify for IB, you should get about 196 per week, depending on what you earned in 2008. You will need an MC1 form, and probably the intermediary certs for the weeks that you have been off work. May take a little while to process. You will also need to have these medical documents for the District Court.

Contact the HSE, and get your medical card sorted. In some areas, this can take up to 13 weeks (mine took 8 months!!). This will be useful if you are in need of continuous medical treatment.

Also, contact the Community Welfare Officer (CWO). You can find their details on the HSE's website. Go down to the officer, and explain the situation. You may get some money to tide you over until IB or Disability come through. You might also want to contact Invalidity Pensions in Dept of Social Protection (I think they are in Longford). You may be entitled to a pension if you are out of work longterm, and can't go back to what you originally trained as.

    Hope this helps.
