I have a 32" HD Samsung that's awesome for MW2. I put my head through it one night (don't ask) and thought it was broken and hooked up my Sony 46" Bravia. FFS it was like actually being in Quarry.
Unfortunately the 32" started working again. HD makes an enormous difference to the graphics on consoles.

19-22" is the best sizes for gaming, esp cod games. 46" would be stupidly big. This is for if you want to play good, ok if your a noob.

I'm sorry what? A smaller tv is better for gaming? Anyone who uses a big TV is a noob??

    Fail.

Guess I'm a noob so, *sigh*

The difference between 19" LCD I had, and my 32" 1080p is unreal. When I went back to my old tv for a day, I couldn't concentrate. What used to be really crisp figures far away on big maps was mostly blurry silhouettes.

Prob is I'm not bringing the HD back to college, so I'll be using the 19" LCD.

I've two tellies. A 42" HD plasma in the front room as our main telly. And a 37" HD plasma in the back room for my gaming area.

Normally the XBox is in the back room, and the 37" is beautiful - she was pushing for a 32" but I explained that an extra €150 for the 37" was a great investment! :D

But when the missus is away for a night, it gets moved straight into the other room for that 42" screen. Bigger is most certainly better when it comes to gaming imho.

I would have said 22"-26" would be best for fps.

No need to call others noobs for playing on big t.v's we aint all pro like you :)

Jeasus lads, I didnt mean anyone was a noob for having a large tv, I just meant if the guy only plays the game for fun then a big tv should be fine.

    A 50" in the bedroom! That's nuts. :)

Both online and LAN tbh, 19-22" is the standard.

Well as I've said many times here, MW2 is the first time I've played an online shooter. Maybe you're a pro competitive online gamer, or been to big LAN events. However, a few things about your "all the top gamers play on small TV's" statement come to mind.

Surely a small screen size is the standard for Lan events because of the logistic nightmare of getting a few hundred 46" screens for everyone who was competing??

In relation to online gamers, I've watched a number of YouTube commentators do "setup" videos of their gaming room. Obviously not many are professional circuit gamers, but a number of them are, and lots compete in GameBattles. And I've never seen any of them with less than a 30" screen. Again, maybe they are the exception to your rule about small screens.

As I say, I'm talking from what I see as logical point of view rather than from experience. Bigger screen means better viewing experience. I'd have thought this can only help your game. But maybe you can explain why I'm wrong.

Heres a thread about tv size on a competitive gaming forum

From reading the first page or two, I've noticed two things.

A few of them are talking about LAN events. Of course you'd go with a smaller screen size at a LAN event, as you can just carry it under one arm all the time.

Also the split seems to be 30:30:30 between 19:22:32. Maybe that changed throughout the rest of the thread. But no one really criticised anyone who used a larger screen. So it can't be that big a deal??

I'd say that maybe if you're trying to compete in the top 1% of gamers, maybe a smaller screen might help??? (Still not fully convinced that it isn't to do with what you're used to, but I'll accept the wisdom from those that have played at that level). But certainly for most normal people I think it'll make little difference to their gameplay, and they'll enjoy it more on a big screen.

All the guys that are really into FPS's, play it competitively, etc use smaller TVs. Apparently it's better for your game. Like if you've a massive tv, you kinda have to make a point of looking up at the radar cos it's so far away from the centre of the screen. Whereas with a smaller tv it's always right there.

I currently have a "46" Samsung 7 series LED TV. I use it alot for online gaming(COD xbox 360) and watching dvds using a blueray DVD player and it's amazing.:D
For watching TV it's amazing.the picture quality is really good but it's even better when you have sky+ hd
Remember:If you get a full HD TV and if you want to watch movies you need a blueray dvd player and a blueray DVD to get the full HD experience, otherwise DVD's don't look great.

There are blu ray players with a DVD upscaler, that plays blurays as normal, and gives a small improvement to normal DVDs. Otherwise a ps3 will do fine for me :D

You can see more of the map with a larger screen

I used a small CRT 26" in the bedroom for a while and its like the area that I could see in the game shrunk.. You can see a wider field with a bigger tv :D

I would rather the 40" LCD Over a smaller tv anytime

I'm pretty sure you see the same amount of the map on a larger screen. However, everything is bigger on it, so perhaps it's easier to hit??

Lads, did ye ever think of maybe changing the distance between you and the tv?
A 32" can look like 19" when you do this thing of moving back from the tv..
Obviously you don't want to be 3 meters away from a 19" tv; just doesn't make sense.

The pixel density is also higher on a smaller screen for the same resolution; makes sense. Things seem crisper in my experience.

Still hard to beat a 40" Splosion though! :D
