    Hi all,

I am currently looking for a 7 day bar license I know currently they are going for in the region of 40k. Anyone now of any for sale or anyone selling could you please let me know.

I know there is a solicitor side needed for this however after recently acquired licenses without a solicitor and the minimum amount of time it took( quoted big money for this ) would like to leave it till as late as possible.

    Thanks

I think publicans 7 day licences are usually advertised in either the Irish Times or the Indo. Not sure where you are getting 40k from, I thought they were 150k plus? Its a few years since I looked but they were about that in 2006 or so.

Morrisey's auctioneers in Dublin 2 are one of the main estate agents for pubs so I'd imagine they could also point you in the right direction.

Pub licences were at one stage 150K and more but now I imagine if you meet the right folk you will get one for 40 k.

I do not know of any body selling any but from my travels through Dublin city there is at least a dozen bars that are closed and if the owners can be contacted then you may have some luck.

Would you ever consider renting a bar? or
Do you want the licence to transfer it?

I imagine you may like to have the licence so that you can open where you like

This link shows a hugely over priced bar for rent

..please note the above agents do not live in the normal market range although you never know you could contact the above agent also and ask them to sell the licence to you. It is up to the man that owns the licence and he could do with 40K I think.

Do you know a licence to sell wine costs 250 Euro

..most restaurants use this licence and also happily sell some beer and liquor

..I believe a liquor licence is 250 Euro also

..it is just the beer licence that is the stupid one from history sakes...remember how much taxi plates were worth...beer is like the bankers business but is built on proper foundations..
wine licences are new....in the last 15-20 years and were released at 250 Euro to help the trade grow, it is now a one billion industry in ireland and the beer trade is well over 7 billion

Jaysus that's shocking to think you'd spend so much on a licence...

Is a liquor licence really only €250? I was aware of the wine licence being reasonable, but I thought to sell liquor you needed a beer licence for some reason?

It is a lot of money to pay for what is basically the right to collect money for the revenue commissioners. You really need some planning and legal expertise on board from the beginning to make sure you get everything right with the law, and that's before you even consider the small matter of making actual money.
