Why is it that RTE show the best shows from the states at terrible times on tv ? Normally at 11.30 or 12. Entourage , Mad Men , sons Of anarchy etc... crazy decisions:mad:

Because they buy up all the shows with the licence fees, so that TV3 can't have them.
Then they don't have proper time slots for all these shows, because they would rather show terrible RTE made productions that they think appeal to people.
They have been doing this for years.

This topic has been recycled for years as well, every 3 months on averge I'd say!

RTE don't care as the matieral is essentially filler, the home grown programmes which cost far more per minute/hour will always get prime time. The only stuff that gets a decent slot is female freindly stuff on RTE2 during the week - Grays, SATC (RIP), Desperate Housewives and so on as that seems to be a bit of a niche for them.

Read in Sunday's Times that they're putting Mad Men on so late because no-one under thirty watches it:confused:

Mainly because no one under 30 can be arsed waiting that long to see it and get spoiled. Downloading ftw.

They've been at it for years. West Wing used to be on in the incredibly variable Thursday 10pm to 11.20pm start time. Every week my flatmate and I used to debate if we were staying up to watch it (pre-Sky plus and sans vcr!)
