Please help, I received a call today from an indian male from a company called Virtual PC Doctor, who he claimed were doing some work for Microsoft. He informed me of problems with computers that were spreading throughout the area and that microsoft were getting in touch with all windows users to help them look after their computers. Being practically computer illiterate and admitedly very stupid I allowed him remote access to my laptop where some applications were installed, before I got scared and disconnected him. Having googled them I realise now that this is a huge scam and I'm unsure what to do next. I deleted the application they installed from the desktop, but am terrified as don't know what information they have gotten.

Read the "I think I have a virus" - Please Read & Try BEFORE Posting (Updated 12/02/2010) sticky and carry out as many of the instructions in that thread, then post the relevant logs here. Someone (probably ASJ112) will be along to help but only once you do those tasks.

Have a read through this too as it looks like it's been a common enough occurrence.

Just got a call, second time this month. I lost the head a bit and used a series of expletives before hanging up. I'm sorry now I didn't ask more questions, get details, who runs it, where it's based etc. The guy had a heavy Indian accent so I'm guessing there's a call centre in India.

Can you not ring your phone provider and get them to block it.
