    http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/WWE_News_3/article_43578.shtml
Tonight's Labor Day episode of WWE Raw emanates from Washington, D.C. with more hype for the Night of Champions PPV in two weeks.
The only item advertised in advance for Raw 901 is follow-up on Nexus winning the five-on-five elimination tag match in the main event of last week's Raw.
Raw 900 was heavily focused on the Smackdown brand, which won't be the case this week with focus on the Raw brand's feuds and matches at Night of Champions.
The Verizon Center in D.C. is advertising two matches (subject to change) for the live crowd. One match is WWE champion Sheamus vs. Randy Orton. The other match is Wade Barrett of Nexus vs. John Cena.

Hope its better than last weeks episode. And hopfully we wont have to listen to how there has been more episodes of Raw than *insert random tv show here*. That got very annoying.

Yeah, fukk Friends. That show only had 236 episodes (and an average of TWENTY-THREE MILLION viewers in the US ALONE!) What losers.

If I were beside King I would've said "yeah, I hate it when shows keep going despite being boring and stale" :pac:

A clean win tonight means he's dropping the belt come Sunday.

Orton vs Barret and Gabriel vs cena.

Should hopefully be two decent legal matches, I swear to god if someone gets DQ'd or counted out, I will cry.

Look at all the time Michael Cole wastes informing the already informed audience that he has received an email from the GM (how come it's never Viagra spam?) and then walking to the unnecessarily large podium.

Surely sitting the laptop on the announce desk with Skype/MSN open would be more efficient and divert such valuable time to more worthy matters, ie. more replays of the opening segment from earlier in the broadcast, more Did You Knows? and perhaps even a few more ad breaks, because you know, 12 just isn't enough.

Edge and Ryder segment was a laugh.

    Woo woo woo

They could do worse than push Ryder, he's not half bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

He's too much of a comic character at the moment. He'd need to be repackaged.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 137 ✭✭Alex Kidd

Definitely, I could see him succeeding in much the same way The Miz evolved.

Cena just came within inches of Drozing Justin Gabriel.

Apparently the MITB briefcase doesn't hold a contract. Or anything at all.

Would it have been too hard to put a few sheets of paper in there?

    He's getting texts from him/her now ;)

Shite show tonight, by the way. I'm spending the majority of it listening to radio comedy with Sky Sports 4 in a tiny window in the corner of my screen.

Didn't think it was too bad tonight tbh, was annoyed there, thought it would be a Count-out, but happily it's not.

Surely edge will rape that laptop at some stage.

I expect Sheamus to interfere in the Orton Barrett match. Its been pretty uneventful so far. I would have liked to have seen Danielson wrestle tonight.

Whoever wrote that last match should be sacked, very bad show tonight other than the Miz and that sums it all up,I am getting too old for this.

Taker to make an appearance anyone?

Jericho out of the title match at NOC, guess he hasn't signed a contract yet...

Unlikely seeing as they just did a forward sell of his upcoming appearance on Smackdown.

What was with that Jericho-Morrison segment? Very cringeworthy.

    LOL@ Khali eliminating himself.

I remember Dean Malenko doing the same thing in a match against Billy Kidman a few years ago. I bet this is the only time Malenko and Khali will ever have anything common.

Still not as bad as the end of show brawl on NXT last week, that was disgraceful.

Khali vs Edge the 2 matches were quite bad even by Khali's eyewateringly awful standards. To quote Power Slam Cena is so bad its like he's doing it on purpose to test wrestling fans.
That morrison/jericho segment was obviously vinces attempt at humbling jericho, lets face it where is he going to go,when a fan faintly chanted tna in the segment it made me cringe. Why go to a company that thinks Mr.Kennedy vs Elijah Burke is ppv main event material.

Another bad show. Sheamus was made look terrible yet again,to be honest besides Orton,Cena & when he's not injured HHH nobody gets a push on Raw.Anyone else notice the crowd died once randy ortons signature move syndrome ended.Darren Young was made look like a right gobshi*e.

Its all a storyline I think. Jericho will join forces with Morrison, if I had to bet it was Jericho's idea to lose the match to make it make sense.

But yes, TNA is bush league.

Edit: Yeah I agree, Darren Young was made to look like a complete doofus. I was expecting him to get the NXT rookies of season two to come out and beat up Barrett, in effect starting a NXT 1 vs. NXT 2 feud..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,054 ✭✭✭D.Q

Jerichos gonna be gone for a while I reckon.

He'll be off on a tour with Fozzy, and that should lead nicely into his new book? (which will be AMAZING)

While Jericho is one of the only reasons to watch raw these days, I dont think him leaving temporarily is such a bad thing. His character is a little bit stale lately. And he's so good, ya want to cheer for him. i think him coming back as a face, and helping mid level heels get over would be great.

More Cole love - from the always fun Miz/Bryan comments to his doing the right thing and not covering for Khali's and the referee's stupidity in the Edge and actually making it more enjoyable for it, Cole really has been on a roll lately.

Now that the episode is finshed for me.. he may look like a constipated tangerine but that hasn't stopped WWE pushing Orton like he's Hulk Hogan at the moment. He's actually made Cena seem like the worker of the two lately and that's some achievement given how Cena is more akin to the last son of Kripton than he is a wrestler.

I have never got how fans in-arena have decided to turn for Orton because to my eyes he's never changed from being a heel and he looks like too much of a heel naturally not to be one. Edge had his abortive face turn earlier this year, but I could actually buy him as a face while Orton trying to emulate Austin sans personality and interesting gimmicks doesn't particularly wash for me.

Sheamus continued his tradition of one utterly awesome line a week, this one probably being the best yet. Even tohugh he's not bieng booked particularly strongly I think it's obvious to everone that he'll be around for years to come, simple because he's bringing something fresh to the table while satisifying the size and height prototypes for the WWE main event picture.

I thought Cena did a good job putting Gabriel over in their match, even if his Superman powers kicked in in record quick time after Gabriel's punt to the head at the finsh.

Enjoyed the Khali match for the actually quite smart original finsh and the hillarity of Cole rightly not even attempting to cover for the referee and lambasting him for his stupidity.

Alicia Fox's slip - ''..and become the undefined womens champion'' - accidentally gave as elquent a critque of the cumilative woes of the womens division as I've ever heard.

Miz/Bryan was just a old good heat building promo and that can never be over-rated.

Apart from Orton's RKO rampage it was a good episode.

It'd defeat the image of The Nexus being an unstopable rampaging machine completely if it was let fight with season 2 rookies - this is about elevating these guys and I don't think Gabirel is going to gain much heat or momenteum from beating Husky Harris. Losing valiantly to Cena brings his stature up; fighting other 'rookies' will do absolutely nothing except solidify a lower tier image.

    I wouldn't say so.

Remember how unbelievebly bad Seamus was on the mike in IWW?

I just cannot believe its the same man, he's so so good now and very comfortable in himself for a guy in only his second year in WWE.

Huge improvement over last weeks episode. Two good matches as well. Jericho vs Morrison was really good and could have been a great match if they got 10 or so more minutes but I understand that was not the point of the match.

Cena vs Gabriel was really good as well. Gabriel used a nice range of moves in this match that I hadn't seen him use before. Cena was really good as well, though I must say I got a fright watching Cena give Gabriel the AA from the post, he very nearly sliped.

The segment with The Miz and DBD was great. The Miz is brilliant and this segment made DBD look great.

Also loved the segment between Edge and Ryder. I love Ryder, makes me laugh the whole time.

Nice to see Derren Young as well. Thought that was a great ending to the match. Would rather if Young didn't take the RKO but its no big deal really. I love the way they have been mixing up storylines lately. With Taker/Kane and The Nexus last week, and this week With Barrett feuding with the other Main Eventers over the WWE title and now also having to watch his back with the return of Young.

    Best Raw in awhile.

agree very solid raw, best since summerslam no doubt. can't believe some of the negativity towards it on here though, i spent the last 2 days watching full raws from june 1999 so it had a lot to live up too :p

jericho and morrison was very good and jericho facial expressions were really funny backstage, i thought miz and bryan did a fine job (despite miz's "smackdown" error), alicia fox is my favourite female on the roster atm, cena and gabriel was really good, gabriel is a star in the making if they can get him to improve on the mic (though he was ok last night i thought)

how in the hell do people see sheamus looking bad for taking an rko?? look at all the guys austin used to stun, he stunned rock all the time

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

I don't give a ****e what anybody says. Michael Cole is the best. He's funny and can be a brilliant heel when he buries Daniel Bryan.

Loved Sheamus. Didn't get much in this week because of stupid Edge and Cena on commentary. "My granny is saying 50 Hail Marys!" The man is making jokes just for us, the Irish wrestling fan.

Daniel Bryan down-talking himself was something else but I really enjoyed that segment. Miz is still very very awesome.

Anything involving Edge nowadays is dull. The "comedy" segment with Ryder was brutal. The joke about Zack's feelings getting hurt was horrible. Leave humor to Family Guy and Sheamus.

Orton has to get the title at NOC. He is so ****ing over. Enjoyed how he just buried Darren Young immediately.

The crowd was awful. Some retard did a "TNA" chant when Jericho was pontificating about his future. Nobody else joined in. Thank Christ.

In all fairness it's a cumlitive thing - Sheamus, although worked for a long time, was pinned cleanly last week by Nexus and has yet to score a clean 1v1 victory against main event opposition despite this being his second reign as WWE champion which by any account is ridiculous. Even if he somehow retains at NoC, it's next to impossible to get a clean win in a match like that.
