Without the DTCs (diagnostic codes) I'd guess an Ignition Coil?

Update-I tried to start the car and noticed it had gone back to it's manufacturing date which was 24/08/01.When the AA arrived they checked the altinator ,ignition coils and a few other things and could find nothing. We brought it to a garage close to me and the guys plugged it in and went straight for the ECU.He told me he would call me tomorrow when he knew more!!!!Can anyone explain what this means??

Was it raining heavy where you were last night? Sounds like a flooded relay to me...

Yes!It happened when the rain was at it's heaviest today!

Check the relay switch under the bonnet thats close to the dash on the driver side. Probably a lot of water getting in there somehow which can effect the relays, could be as simple as drying it out and replacing relays.
