I'm sure someone here would happily do it for beer money instead of being charged an arm and a leg... it'd be done properly too!

Moving this to Laptop forum. Maybe it's a fix you can do yourself, and learn at the same time.
I could fix it too but first you need to to tell us what brand it is, what operating system is on it and how the problems manifest.

Start by downloading CCleaner and run that.

If you live close to the city centre I can call into you and sort it out. No charge. Call it a boards discount.

    PM sent.

As biko was saying, maybe one of us (myself included) could help you fix it on here for free instead (depending on what is wrong of course). Just give us some more info on what you have and what the problem is and we can take it from there.

If not, if it's just a software problem (which I suspect it is), you can bring it anywhere not just shops that specialize in laptops.

    All the best ;)

    Sounds like a Virus OP?

Malwarebytes is also pretty thorough and free - run a Full Scan and have a cup of tea, it'll take a while but it should find any buried malware. And after all that defragment your hard drive overnight with Defraggler (made by the same people as CCleaner so I trust it!) (BTW, filehippo.com is a good site with solid free programs like this)

Any difference to Defraggler compared to the Disk Defragmenter found on your PC already?

Disk Defragmenter is very basic and isn't as good. another alternative is Ausologics.
OP, if you give us a bit more info, i'm sure we'll be able to help you. The Comp & Tech forum is full of people willing to help :)

Assuming you have some method of backing up relevant files and the necessary recovery media, I would say backup your computer, wipe it and reinstall.
Remember how nice and fast it was the day you bought it? Be just like that again.
Is it recovery cd you have or a recovery partition do you know?
