1st Prize - A ferry ticket to Hollyhead (boat only, not inc train)
2nd Prize - Butter vouchers (Can be swapped for Cigarettes at some shops like in the 80s)
3rd Prize - You get to ban something. We like banning things.
4th Prize - as many E voting machines as you like.

    A few inspirational ideas .......

the soon to be extinct FF govt - Bertie telling people to commit suicide if they dont believe the hype. What a comment to make.

The struggling fisheries - Irish boats that have strict quotas that have to be fished quickly (risking lives in bad weather), while other countries help themselves all year round.

The political elite - the excessive pay / incompetency / corruption

Childeren in prefab classrooms still FFS.

Transport that doesnt link up. A luas terminus on one side of your design and another station on the far side of the note perhaps?

Get your thinking caps on people ...... there are at least 250,000 and counting who have the time to design something.

And remember, you dont need design experience / talent / passion for this competition. Sure most of our politicians have no experience for the posts they hold either. Imagine that!

A picture of Bertie Ahern on the note, to remind us that this must never happen again.

7 Hips to the Hop, 13 Hops to the Blip, 11 Blips to the Blop 27 Blops to the New Pound. 1 New Pound = -1 Euro.

    A currency based on logic

We need a currency that sets it's own value - completely divorced from any logical sense of value.

It must be indestructible and capable of surviving against all odds. It must be able to turn seemingly sane and rational people into incompetent crooked scheming morons at the mere mention of its name.

It must have the ability to get the whole world talking about it and must be shrouded in mystery so none are capable of working out it's true value.

I suggest we call it the "Anglo".

It grows on trees, multifunctional and it comes in modern "roll" form!

I say we go back to the pre-christian bartering system & do away with money altogether.

Instead of buying that lcd tv you've had your eye on offer an assortment of meats or several hand crafted wicker baskets? Perhaps offer the seller the use of your car for several months as payment. Bartering....its the future.

Failing that i say we use marbles as currency. Everyone likes marbles. Those large really shiny chrome coloured ones could represent 50 euros, the less attractive standard see-through ones could be 5/10 cents.

The equivalent of several hundred euros?: 1353814668_135394b2f9.jpg

Ok here's my entry. This is the lowest cash currency. Smaller denominations will use various fruits and nuts to represent coins

I plan to put other celebs on the higher denominations (eg Bono on the 5billion, Johnny Ronan on the 10 etc).

Bah, defaulting won't happen - it'll kill the Euro and the European economy if it did. The IMF seems to do more harm then good though.
