Can anyone recommend any short make-up courses in Dublin? I'm thinking a 2 day sort of thing.

I found a 1 week LA Academy one which looks great but might be a bit of over-kill.

It depends what you want to do it for? Is it just to get advice on how to apply make yourself or is it to get skills to apply on other people?

Really just to perfect my own and to feel more confident doing friends/sisters.

A step below a basic professional course iykwim.

The week long one in LA Academy is Module 1 of their professional track. I'd love to do it, and it seems good value for what it is, but it'd be a week off work, or doing it in the evenings, and I'm already studying in the evenings, and it's probably a bit too in depth for anything I'd ever use, so it's a bit too much really.

Can you tell I'm trying to talk myself out of it?! :)

Well there's a course Make-up Forever do which is an hour and a half of make-up application advice. http://www.face2.ie/individualmakeuplesson.htm You could give that a go and see how you get on?

Are they still on the go? It's the first site Google threw up, but if you go into the Courses section of the site the brochure is for 08/09

I'm starting the module 2 in LA make-up tomorrow. Looking forward to it but I want to get into make-up as a career!!

Imo, you should check out the videos on you tube. There are tons and tons of them and some are really brilliant and you could learn alot from them. After that, it is all about practice! :D

A very good idea! Pythia usually knows which videos are the best. :)

I dunno, I love watching vids on youtube, they are a great starting point, but its all just girls doing what they know suits them, iykwim. I'd like a bit more direct guidance.

BTW thank you for taking the time to post, I feel like I'm shooting down every reply!

Ya, I know what you mean. What you are talking about is exactly what I want to do for people. Consulations and private lessons for people in a group or one on one! :)
How about booking some make-up applications with a make-up counter. Most are refundable against product so you'd end up with some nice bits for yourself aswell.

Did mod 2 with LA makeup, and found it absolutely fantastic.
The first week might not be over kill, they show a lot of different tecqniques (sp!) which would obviously be very useful for just your own looks.

    Hi..

sorry to thread-jack, but can anyone recommend a good make-up course that will allow me to work proffessionally on other people? I've learnt a lot off you-tube/ practice on friends/myself/sisters but really want to get a recognised cert as everyone has said I can make some money and I enjoy it as well..

It's a real departure from my regular job so want to get it right. I can only do it part time and have looked at the ITEC/CIBTAC diploma offered by lenagh's college. Has anyone on here done it?

    It's a bit steep at 3000 bob but it's convenient on Saturday's and I won't have to buy a kit/ exam fees.

    Any advice?

I was looking at doing a course with them and have decided against it. For the basic itec the portobello institute is cheaper and the pi answered calls and emails quite promptly while makeupfabilicious have never answered any of my 4 emails or even the online instant messaging!

Tbh i thought that if i couldn't get an answer from them when i was trying to give them 1200 what hope would i have if i ever had a problem!!!!

Btw my course at portobello is the facial make up course and costs 882
