99 Avensis TD.. Notchy gear change.

    It almost happened overnight, the gearchange went from being smooth to being notchy, it gets a bit better after it warms up. I took it to a mechanic to get his opinion and get the gearbox oil changed, he basically said "they are all stiff, it's nothing to worry about". I am not convinced. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be?. The car is well looked after and still has less than 100000 miles on the clock.
