Last week i dropped my nano in the toilet completely submerged for a few seconds (thankfully the water was clean ;))

Anyway i turned it off and left it to dry for 5 days in rice. The first time i checked if it was working it was completely dead no signs at all that it was working. I kept pressing buttons and out of nowhere songs started playing and everthing was working apart from the screen which was completely dark not working at all so obviously that wasnt good. I tried restarting it a number of times but the screen was still dead so i figured i must of blown a connection or something. This is where i should of left it and left it to the profesionals to fix but i stupidly decided to try and open it up.

So i followed a video and i dont know i removed the click wheel and well that didnt do any good. Now the click wheel isnt as responsive so thats another problem added to the list :o

Obviously apple won't touch it since its water damaged and since i opened it stupidly. Moral of the story don't mess with stuff if you don't know what your doing and don't drop electrical stuff in water :D:(

Anyway does anyone know any repair places in dublin that could fix it? thanks :)

Being a nano, it is probably generally cheaper to replace it with a new one considering the array of problems you are experiencing and the fact that it was dropped in water.

If you like the old style nanos, you would want to source one fast as the new generation will be taking over soon.

the click wheel seems to of improved its not as responsive as it was originaly but its definitly still usable the only problem now is the backlight maybe that will come back out of the blue in a few days its weird how things are coming back one by one

friday morning: absolutely no respose from ipod completely dead
friday afternoon: plays songs but screen is completely black won't display in itunes
    sat: works with itunes
today: screen miraculesly comes back (but no backlight)
maybe i should give it a few more days :D

ah i wish i hadnt opened it now :o

I didn't open my 4g after washing it, but the backlight for the screen never came back despite leaving it for many weeks. I've finally been forced into replacing it with a 5g as I like the size/style.

yeah dont think i'll bother with it anymore the screen seems to have gone completely black again i just ordered a refurb 16gb off the apple website have to be more carefull with this one ;)
I thought about ordering the 6th generation one but if anything that looks a downgrade of the 5th gen (no cam, no games, smaller screen)
