Upstairs in the Elephant & Castle (Christchurch) is trying for a Beerhall impression. Lots of German beers too.

the last thing Germans abroad would want is to hang around a German bar. Such a creature does not exist I think.

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

    some classic german humour
A man walks into a bar.

He is an alcoholic whose drinking problem is destroying his family.

Think you maybe wrong silverharp. I have been in 3 cities recently in Spain France and Italy and in at least 7 different German bars selling lovely German beer, all of them frequnted by Germans abroad, not hanging around as you suggested, but enjoying the company and beer of fellow Germans along with other nationalities. Creature???? What is that about???

no, there is none. germans are not proud of their culture and there is nothing Germans hate more than other germans abroad, because thez also dislike speaking german unless with friends and when they asolutely have to. ein komisches Volk.
