If you have already booked return flights with Ryan Air to Europe, how much would Ryan Air charge on the day of a flight to also take a guitar in a hardcase?

On the website, they would charge €40 per flight if booked with the tickets on their website. Is the charge the same as the flight ticket, or would i get ripped?

I randomly bought a guitar when I was in France last year.

I had no problems bringing it back. I didnt tell the airline i was bringing it, but just turned up the guitar (with massive hardcase and all ) and they took it no problem.

It cost 18 or 20 quid, if not a bit less.

But it did go in the hold, and there was massive dents in the harcase when I got it back so I wasn't massively impressed by that.

    Hope this helps! ;)

That seems quite reasonable. It's €40 if you book it with your flight ticket.

Dont know how it was so cheap for me then...

I presume that yours would be going in the hold as well for your 40 quid?

I assume so. But €20 seems to good to be true.

Im pretty sure it was less than 20 quid man, but Id obviously be prepared for the worst case scenario.

The airlines will be wanting to squeez all they can out of ya. Bastards. :D

i brought mine on a few times. it had too go too the over size part of the airport. they have let me bring it on board and the people that work on the plane would mind it.

i would say this has changed since i brought it the last time. this is going back about 3 years ago.

you should ring them or e-mail and ask.

Hey Darren, it goes without saying but make sure to slacken strings and pad the hell out of that case.

As a weight saving tip I always stuff my (clean) underwear to save on weight and offer protection to an ambulant axe.

Probably take a Bacchus Les Paul in a genuine Gibson Les Paul case, the brown one with the pink fur. And my underwear is always clean.;) Might even throw the Boss TU2 in there too.

iv stripped my bolt on neck ibanez's before going on planes. I put the neck in my hand luggage and bubble wrapped the body and put it in a heavy duty suitcase covered by clothing

I brought a guitar back from london but bought an actual seat on the plane for it. The seats were dirt cheap and no tax or anything on them so it was prob just as cheap as putting them in the hold but felt a lot better knowing the guitar never left my hands. Had a bad experience with a guitar in the hold before and will never do it again if I can. Rather ship the guitar home via freight
