wonder if anyone out there might be able to help me? Im currently undertaking a PhD and am considering wrapping it up with a research masters? Does anyone know if you need to do a viva to finish with a research masters? or is the thesis sufficient? Does this depend on the area of research or the college?
    Thanks

From what I know, there is no viva for a research masters. You write it up, send it off to your supervisor and external supervisor. They then review and give you corrections and pack you off to finish it. When everybody is happy you can submit for your masters. In some cases the extern may ask for an interview/viva. It doesn't often happen though and is not a requirement.

Also for a research masters you just get pass or fail. There is no honours, tails or kites, just a masters.

    Best of luck!
