Focus Radio - No FM

Question for ye, I think this is the right place?

I have a 01 Focus, and the radio is not working properly. It is the original radio, casette (retro!). A few weeks back I lost FM reception, it came through as static/white noise. The radio was able to pick up the stations but it was really bad. I figured the problem was with the antenna, it was damaged!

Today I bought a new antenna and after I changed it, I dont even get static, there is no FM reception at all, nothing. I can pick up longwave but who listens to that?

I am thinking about resetting the radio, i have the 4 digit code but considering LW will work, will resetting it do anything.

Anybody have any ideas on what I should do?

If you have the code, reset it. Whats the harm?

Check the antenna at the back of the radio, maybe it's loose. You need 2 U shaped coat hanger ends.

Cheers guys. Will be able to check the back connection tomorrow, will have the U shaped coat hangers then. Will reset the radio then if its not the antenna connection, I dont want to do it by tampering with the battery

If you're getting LW then its unlikley to be the antenna, usually LW is the hardest to pick up and you can get FM with as little as a split pin shoved into the back of the radio
