    First Post so here goes.

In Tesco Rathmullan Drogheda to day. Had 120 Watt car inverters that convert 12 volt to mains voltage for sale at €8.12
Allows you to charge small electrical devices such as laptops or phones using the existing mains transformer from your car battery or power other electrical equipment.
Spec says Max power rating 120 Watts. Peak power 200 Watts
Standby current 0.3 Amps. Wave form Modified sine Wave.

On sale in car section under name of
    Powering E:Can Compact car inverter.
The 75Watt version was on sale for €40.
Bought two ( one for me other for my son who plans to use for charging cordless drill in Jeep when away from Base.) no problems at checkout
A bargain if you have a requirement for one.

Did try charging laptop and it worked (ran for about 20 min)
However would not try and use with laptop powered up and running as its only really for low powered devices.

Was always wondering were to pick up one of these..
I'm assuming that it wouldn't be powerful enough to use a hand angle grinder that I could keep in the boot to cut off a clamp if necessary?
So if ya used something that required too much power it'd pop the fuse?

*edit don't have the grinder to look at here, but a google shows that it is 1200W.
So I highly doubt the car battery would be up for it. also found a 300W convertor for about €20

Both should be fine. A laptop charger is typically only 60-70W. It will drain most car batteries quickly though if your engine is not switched on! Should be fine while driving though...

    Kidding right ?

You do know they take photos of all clampings before they drive away, presumably among other things, to prepare for this eventuality ?

So it might ultimately cost you even more - I'm sure they have punitive charges to ensure these simple 'workarounds' aren't employed

Well that was one of the things it may be used for, i got clamped there a while back and removed it myself. Rang the guards and they told me if it fell off then I should ring the clamper an organise for them to collect it. Which I did. They had pictures of the clamp on my car. They had CCTV of me driving out of the car park. But sure te clamp was just leaning against my car when I went out to it. I did them the Favor of keeping it safe for them.
