Old Age Pension and Widow's Pension

    If you are on the old age non-contributory pension and your spouse is and if one of them dies, I presume you then get the widow's pension? Is the old age pension then withdrawn from the surviving spouse?

    It's withdrawn from the deceased but you get six weeks additional payment if you were claiming for them. If you're on the non-contributory pension you can't switch to the non-contributory widow's as that's for people under 66.
