ok yet another resnt allowance question here, we moved house last month and had to do all the paperwork for rent allowance even though we were getting it in the old house all we did was move about 5 miles away still in same county. we got a letter from cwo today saying we needed to forward the leasing agreement from the old house to her or go down to the council and get them to forward a housing needs assesment to her. i have no idea what she is on about. any help? i do remember a guy coming out to our old place and checking stuff round the place making sure smoke detector was working radiators that kind of thing. was that our housing assesment?

Was the guy from the local council? Ring them and see.

You're not entitled to rent allowance unless you have a need for housing, you'd either have to be assessed by the local county council or have been renting privately for the previous 6 months (why they need to see the last lease).

my partner on jsa, we were on rent allowance in last house, so because we moved we now have to pay rent for next 6 months? that doesnt make sense let me explain a bit further we WERE getting rent allowance in last house for round 2 years we moved last month to this house had to reapply now she is asking for all this stuff we have no income so cant pay rent.

You wrote that the CWO offered you two options. The easier of the two, if possible, is to show her the lease for the house you recently left.
