American Dad

Suprised there was no thread on American Dad.

I've been watching it quite often lately. I was slow to get into it but it really has grown on me. In my eyes, it's far better than the newer episodes of the Simpsons and Family Guy.

I think it may be a bit of an acquired taste, so don't dismiss it after one episode.

Anyway, what do you guys think of it?

    Couldn't agree more.

In the run up to the new seasons at the end of September, I went back and watched the previous seaons of both Family Guy and American Dad.
I've actually now become bored with Family Guy. Where as I can't stop watcing American Dad, once I've finished one episode, I'll go watch another.

I think American Dad is more popular than people let on, but they won't voice their love for the show incase they get a shouted at or a telling off from the Family Guy fanatics who refuse to accept that there are better show out there.

The latest season of American Dad deserves a 9/10, short of full mark because of the ocasional times Steve annoys me :D

American Dad is certainly fresher. I was a big fan of Family Guy but got bored and felt the writers got a bit lazier (yes, I know that show was 99% rapid cuts between random scenes ANYWAY).

American Dad is a great show though!

The episode that first got me hooked was "With Friends Like Steve's"
When Barry turns evil after skipping his medication.
Just a pity they havn't used evil Barry again.

I've seen all of them but i go through periods of liking it, and getting sick of it. This season i ran through a lot of them as i felt that the story structure was quite rigid (Stan is intolerant towards something, gets shown the error of his ways, apologises in the end) ....it's gone WS and HD which really helps lol. Some episodes are quite packed, and would've been great if they were 2-parters :) (Rapture's Delight springing immediately to mind)

Only 2-parter I can think of is Stan of Arabia.
I'd like to see them do a straight-to-DVD movie, if they could find a strong enough plot. Maybe bring back evil Barry for it.

(Oh how I love evil Barry)

It's a crime American Dad! hasn't used evil Barry again. Just one episode. It's a damn shame.

    Takes Steve's bed,
Forces Steve to sleep under his mattress
    Farts
Evil voice, "That will be with you, momentarily"

Rodger is the only worthwhile character. Not a good show but watchable.

    Definately an acquired taste.

It is good but doesn't have the same jump onboard approach that Family Guy has.

I think it's got better as seasons go on. Wasn't a massive fan of Season One (even though I bought the box set), Season two was a little better.....but then it pushed on from there. At the risk of being slated..... I would put Roger up there with the likes of Stewie & Cartman, great character.

Yeah, but things like that make it even harder to get into a show.

I like American Dad, but it took three seasons of being indifferent.

I don't know, I liked The Best Christmas Story Never Told. Who wouldn't have wanted to see Taxi Driver with John Wayne? :D
