Best high-end laptop for music production?

    hi guys.

it's been over 3 years since the last time I bought a laptop. I produce and perform live regularly with Ableton 8.
I need to buy a new laptop soon as my current one is reaching its limits with processing especially when using multiple VSTs.

The last time I bought a custom laptop from Unity Etail, but I see that they have now closed down apparently.

What is the best spec that I need for optimising my experience with Ableton 8?

Essentially I want to get a very souped up machine, but not one that is more than what Ableton actually supports (this could be irrelevant now but I remember when a friend bought a quad core and Ableton didn't/doesn't support it yet)

Is there anywhere in Dublin that does custom laptops now?
Or do you recommend any off the shelf models, and if so, which ones?

My budget could stretch up to about EUR1400
I don't want to use Mac.. PC only.

    cheers!

and I forgot to mention, I only use the laptop for music.. nothing else. So I don't need any other bell and whistles whatsoever.

There's a company called Scan that do high end desktops and laptops specifically for audio work. Might be what you're looking for.

would never reccommend a mac to anyone, except in this case.
even a standard mac will do if your stuck for cash.. but mac > win for music, without a doubt.

EDIT: didn't see you didn't want to use a mac.
Check this out, don't know how good it is, but it's somethign
