    Hello all,

Having posted here and having always recieved sound advice in the past I hope you can help me now..

Having had the heating switched off for most of the summer I gave it a trial run this evening, One rad does not have a thermostat so I had manually turned it off, when I turned the knob to open and turn on fully water started to drip out of under the plastic head. I popped it off and can see the water escaping. Now I dont know if the dial was opened fully before I switched it off, if anyone has any idea I would appreciate suggestions.
    Thanks as always :D

The packing gland around the spindel of the valve is weeping. If there is a hex nut around the spindel near the body you can try and tighten this nut. If this dose not work you can repack the gland. Not sure how it's done, some of the older plumbers here might know how to do it but i dont. Failing this it's a new valve for you.

You can make a grommit of flax and boss white ,take off the back nut and pack in the grommit ,tighten it up.

Old pegler valves come with green and red rings that are used aswell ,can be bought in a plumbing shop.
